– AMERICAN STYLE RHYTM –

It took off successfully when Charleston fell. With the birth of swing music, in the mid-1930s, Lindy (Swing) gained social points. The craze for this dance spread across the nation and, depending on where you lived, took the definition of Jitterbug, Lindy Hop or Swing.

MOVEMENT CHARACTERISTIC

A lateral step or a triple step (shuffle), followed by a rock step and performed on lively music, represent the fundamental model of this dance.

MUSICAL TIME

It is usually written in 2/4 or in 4/4 with the musical accent on the second, or on the second and fourth bars of each measurement. The swing consists of two general rhythms: swing rhythm – 1, 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6 or lindy rhythm – 1, 2, 3 and 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. The swing up can dance on a wide scale of times.
