Considered the father of today’s dances, the Waltz was born in southern Germany in the seventeenth century. The popularity of the Waltz has grown thanks to the music of Johann Strauss and has finally blossomed definitively in the twentieth century. It forms the basis for many dances and is now very popular all over the world.

MOVEMENT CHARACTERISTIC

The basic components of the Waltz consist of walking steps and side steps. Elevation and descent, body swings are just some of the stylistic features that make even the simplest models of Waltz elegant and beautiful.

MUSICAL TIME

The waltz is written in a time of 3/4 the musical accent that occurs on the first bar of each measurement. The fastest time of the Waltz is called the Viennese Waltz.
